Case Management

What kind of case management does Chicken Soup offer?

Our unique approach to integrated medicine and the extensive expertise of our practitioners at Chicken Soup ensure that we work with people both locally and nationwide on complex health challenges. For our clients who are not able to come in for regular follow-up treatments, but whose therapies require extensive monitoring and follow-up, we have another option: Case Management. This is our way of keeping in touch, helping all of our clients feel they can be in contact when they need to be, that we’re aware of what is going on in their treatments, and that we can suggest adaptations in their Chinese medical treatment strategies where needed.

Who can benefit from Chicken Soup’s case management? Clients with long-term chronic illness, such as HCV or HIV, who for various reasons may want or need ongoing support on a weekly or monthly basis that is more involved than just a quick 2-minute e-mail or phone call, but less strategic or involved than a full consultation. An example would be a client who has already had an initial consultation with Misha to develop a treatment strategy to support them through Interferon therapy, and who will be seeing a local acupuncturist for weekly visits, but who needs our expertise to monitor their bloodwork and suggest changes to their herbal regime throughout Interferon therapy. Or maybe a client who is living with HIV has undertaken an herbal strategy to support their health while their CD-4 counts are in flux; in this case, we will continue to monitor periodic bloodwork and make suggestions for changes to formula or dosage, and make referrals where appropriate for additional western care.

Our case management may benefit other clients, as well: any person who wants or needs ongoing contact with the clinic on a weekly or monthly basis but for whom regular consultations are not needed or not appropriate.
