Comprehensive Treatment

What do comprehensive treatment plans cover?

What does it take to make positive change in a person’s life? One theory of change is based on the idea that change takes effort, and in order to convince most of us to make the effort to change, we have to have a few things in place:

  • A “burning platform for change” – something to convince us that it’s time to take a leap into the unknown – in this case, some illness that is causing our life not to be what we want it to be.
  • A goal, a vision of what our life can look like if we can just achieve this change.
  • An understanding of those first steps it will take to get us there.

ClinicAt Chicken Soup, we use comprehensive treatment plans to create the structure around a client, so they can know not only where they’ve come from, but where they can head, and how they can get there with us (if they so choose). Our treatment plans embody our philosophy that, as Misha’s book title says, there are “Many Paths to Wholeness.” Treatments plans include your practitioner’s recommendations, based on your particular situation, for acupuncture, herbs, diet, exercise, massage, and any referrals or other recommendations that are appropriate. In developing your individualized treatment plan, your practitioner will take into account your western diagnosis, your western treatment plan, your Chinese medical diagnosis, and all those highly personalized considerations that come out of our extensive consultation – what you as a person most care about, what you can handle at this moment physically/emotionally/financially, what resources you have at your disposal and the resources we can potentially introduce to you.

The comprehensive treatment plan documents all the recommendations that come out of your consultation with your practitioner, but once it is created, it’s yours, and it’s portable – if you live elsewhere or for some other reason will be seeing another practitioner, you can take your treatment plan with you, and ask that practitioner to work with that treatment plan. If your local practitioner has questions about the treatment plan, we are happy to answer them. And, if appropriate, we’ll keep in touch over the long term through our case management program, so that you can continue derive support and insight from us while you and your local practitioner implement your treatment plan at home.
